The ALA often picks books that the bookstore didn't even have in stock and that very few people have read.

Katharine, I HOPE Before I Fall is an Honor book, but as Stephanie says, it's a huge fan favorite and Printz awards rarely seem to go to what's popular.

We'll find out soon!Joanne R. I have added a TON of books to my list as I've searched for likely candidates.
YAY!
I had a hard time picking between Before I Fall and The Sky is Everywhere, so I will say BIF is an honor book.KatOwens: Insect Collectorhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12228171304170449979noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9124298039392938540.post-1385088330480102342011-01-09T00:14:03.880-05:002011-01-09T00:14:03.880-05:00I came so close to picking Art and Max. That seems to be the frontrunner (which probably doesn't really mean much, I suppose, since ALA often picks books that don't have a lot of buzz around them). I haven't read Vera Dietz yet but it does seem to have a kind of Printz energy about it. And Before I Fall has been such a huge fan favorite, I wonder if it might get an honor. My favorite middle grade of the year was The Magical Misadventures of Prunella Bogthistle. It's probably not the kind of book ALA normally honors, but I thought it was delightful. Can't wait till Monday!Stephaniehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15206089874019184766noreply@blogger.com
